“What is that noise?” Tyler immediately withdrew his baby from the buggy and placed her on the couch. He lifted the padding slightly and found a piece of FOLDED PAPER. “What is this?” he wondered as he unfolded it and saw a handwritten note addressed to a certain ‘Gigi’…
The responsibility of taking care of a newborn baby while grieving the loss of the woman that meant the world to him was overwhelming.
Tyler felt pressure every single day. He had no one to turn to when he needed a helping hand so he was forced to quit his job in order to raise his daughter.
Each day was a constant struggle. He would look at his late wife’s photo and he would talk to her. He shared stories about Tiara’s milestones, although he was aware he couldn’t hear him. Somehow, he found solace in talking to Kelly’s photo, no matter how crazy that sounded.
With no job, this widowed dad struggled to make ends meet, but he knew his daughter needed him, so he did all in his power to provide for her.
One day, when Tiara finally fall asleep, Tyler took the metal box in which he kept the little money he had and decided to spend them on a stroller. That way, he could rest his arms from holding his daughter most of the day.
In the morning, he took Tiara and the two went to the nearest flea market. There, he noticed a woman standing next to a stroller. He approached her and asked her if she was selling it, to which she said “yes.”
She looked at Tyler and his daughter for a while with confusion after which she said she would sell the stroller to him for $10.
“Are you sure?” Tyler asked her as the price was too low for such an item.
“You need this more than I do,” the woman said. Excited, Tyler handed her the money and she left.
The widowed dad was glad for the bargain, not assuming it would change his life forever.
He went home, cleaned the stroller, which was used but looked as new, and placed his daughter inside. But just as he started pushing it, a sound of cracking disturbed his baby. It sounded like a crushed bag of chips. But when he reached under the seat, he realized it was a letter.
He started reading it and with every word, his heart crushed a little bit.
It turned out that the woman who sold the stroller to him had a daughter but lost her. She addressed the letter to her, writing that she needed to sell the stroller, the only thing that was left of her. She apologized and said she hoped her girl was at a better place.
Tyler knew he needed to trace the woman down so he visited the flea market again and asked around. The man who worked at the shop nearby told Tyler that the woman lived in the last house of the street.
Tyler didn’t think twice before he saw him walking towards her house. But just as he was about to ring the doorbell, he heard a man’s voice asking for the rent money, telling the woman she had two days to pay or she would need to leave the place.
When the landlord left the place, the woman, who introduced herself as Amanda, noticed Tyler at the door.
He apologized for coming to her home, but said he found her letter and felt the urge to see her.
He offered her to stay with him and Tiara until she was able to collect money for rent. Unwillingly, the woman accepted his offer.
Over time, she and Tiara bonded and she took care of her, so Tyler was able to get back to his job. The three functioned as a family, and eventually, they decided they were one. Tyler popped the question and the two tied the knot.
Two tragedies experienced by two people and what seemed like a bargain for a stroller turned into a beautiful story of love and support.
