A beloved figure from the music world, known for his sharp wit and satirical edge, has passed away at 79. Gaining fame in the early 1970s with his boundary-pushing country music, he became famous for provocative lyrics and fearless performances. His hits like “They Ain’t Makin’ Jews Like Jesus Anymore” and “Get Your Biscuits in the Oven and Your Buns in the Bed” earned him a loyal following. He also toured with Bob Dylan, cementing his place in music history.

Beyond music, he ran for governor of Texas in 2006, finishing fourth, and later pursued political office, including two bids for agriculture commissioner. His unconventional career and bold approach left an indelible mark.
